New Technology Produces GreenGrown™ Glucosamine
From 100% Vegetable Source

San Anselmo, CA (January 24, 2008)

The booming U.S. market for joint care supplements now requires a supply of over 5,000 tons of Glucosamine a year. Glucosamine is an essential building block in the development of new human cartilage, and creates the base for the majority of joint health supplement products sold today. Proven effective in it's ability to rebuild and repair damaged cartilage in numerous clinical trials, Glucosamine is one of the most widely used supplements in the long-term treatment of stiff joints and arthritis.

The bulk of this material is derived from shellfish which is produced in the Asian aquaculture industry. There's been a significant amount of press attention recently focusing on the growing pollution problems caused by this industry through the proliferation of pesticides, veterinary drugs and other chemical waste released into rivers, lakes and shorelines.

But now a new source of Glucosamine, manufactured using environmentally friendly technology, has just been announced by Ethical Naturals Inc., a raw material supplier to the nutritional supplement, food and beverage industries, based in San Anselmo, California. "Our GreenGrown Glucosamine is 100% vegetable source containing no aquaculture by-products," says Cal Bewicke, President of Ethical Naturals Inc. " It also brings a number of other advantages to manufacturers and consumers."

GreenGrown is produced through a unique, proprietary process of corn fermentation, with further refinement to meet the highest levels of purity. It's available in both HCL and Sulfate, and is Kosher Certified so that it does not require a label warning necessary on all supplements containing shellfish material. GreenGrown also serves as a suitable option for vegetarians because it's derived from corn and not from shellfish, and has no negative association with the contamination caused by the Asian aquaculture industry.

Every batch of GreenGrown is screened and guaranteed pesticide-free. It is manufactured to meet the highest USP grade of purity for Glucosamine, and can be substituted directly for shellfish material in supplements, foods and beverage products

" With new uses for Glucosamine in the beverage and food markets, combined with the expanded, ongoing demand for joint care supplements, the unique qualities of GreenGrown Glucosamine are already attracting a substantial amount of interest in the supplement industry," ends Cal Bewicke.
